Events at Canberra City Farm
There are so many ways to be involved in Canberra City Farm. We host a wide range of regular and one-off events throughout the year, from educational workshops and expert talks to hands-on Farm activities and seasonal celebrations. We have regular working bees, monthly mingles, and plant clinics.

OPEN DAY – Happy 10th Birthday
Celebrating ten years at Dairy Road
We’re celebrating our first ten years at Dairy Road with a gala open day! The gate is open to all with a fun and inspirational community event:
- shop at our stalls
- learn from our workshops and tours
- enjoy the friendly community and meet the organisations that help make the Farm a centre for regenerative urban agriculture
- see our work-in-progress microforest, currently funded by a Nature in the City Grant.
At midday we’ll be toasting our achievements, thanking the Canberra community for their support, and looking forward to a sustainable and regenerative future where we can all make a difference. Hear from Laura Nutall MLA, and Judy Friedlander (author of The Bee Squad: Boosting Biodiversity in your Neighbourhood), as she launches our brand new website, listen to Canberra’s Pop Up Choir.
Drop in or stay the whole day. Hear the buzz of bees and people, eat homemade ice-cream, see what’s growing and get your hands dirty. There’s something for everyone!
Final workshop program
10.30 am – 12 noon

11 am – 12 noon
- Tour the Farm, see our new microforest
- An introduction to saving your own seeds, Canberra Seed Savers
- About the Canberra snake-tracking project, a talk with volunteer trackers from the Farm.
12 noon
10th birthday celebration, address by Laura Nuttall MLA, website launch by Judy Friedlander (author of The Bee Squad: Boosting Biodiversity in your Neighbourhood), delicious lunch, Canberra’s Pop Up Choir
1.30 pm – 2.30 pm
- Setting up a small scale worm farm with Cid Riley from Global Worming
- The 7 reasons of why—your say. Delving into the connections between cultural identity, environmental awareness and inclusivity with the Australian Talented Youth Project
- Storytelling: the first ten years at Dairy Road
- What’s so special about our feijoa orchard? Tour and talk with Mark O’Connor
3 pm – 4 pm
- Tour our ‘sustainable house’, the Low Energy Super Shed
- Children’s gardening project—Little Green Thumbs
