Composting Event and May Monthly Mingle

May 18 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free

Celebrating International Compost Awareness Week.  Help build hot compost, eat pizza and listen to Gürkan Yeniçeri, one of Canberra’s greatest sustainable living practitioners.

We’re celebrating International Compost Awareness Week with a fun day of making a hot compost heap, eating pizzas and meeting a passionate compost-maker. Please join us as we turn the Farm’s green waste into microbial gold. It’s a chance to learn the science and art of making great compost (including microbiological brewing), be part of our thriving community, and come home with a free bag of ready-to-use compost (in return for one hour minimum of working on the compost build).

Join us for the whole day or drop in. At lunchtime we’ll be eating pizzas from our mud oven, part of our usual Monthly Mingle where you can meet people, ask compost (or any other) questions, and have a look around. After lunch we’ll hear from this month’s inspiring guest speaker, Gürkan Yeniçeri, who practices permaculture, aquaponics, beekeeping, and growing vegetables and fruits in his suburban backyard.

Compost Build: 10 am to 12:30 pm

Lunch: 12:30 pm. Eat pizzas, bring your own toppings

Talk: 1:30 pm.  Meet and listen to Gürkan Yeniçeri, one of Canberra’s greatest sustainable living practitioners.
