SUMMARY:MEET UP - Regenerative Study Group
DESCRIPTION:Regenerative Study Group – October\nOur Regenerative Study Group meets on the first Sunday of the month at the City Farm in the LESS.  We will be continuing to explore the nature of regenerative cultures and their relationship to regenerative agriculture. \nAt the Canberra City Farm we embrace ‘principles and methods and ethics of regenerative agriculture’. These are the bold words of our new Strategic Plan\, but what does ‘regenerative’ actually mean? While ‘organic’ is clearly defined\, ‘regenerative’ is not defined at all. We have used it in relation to gardening and agriculture\, but it also has a much broader application when used to describe societies and cultures. The purpose of this study group is to explore the meaning of ‘regenerative’ and gain a clearer idea of what can and cannot be described as regenerative. \nOur exploration will be divided into two parts. During the first part we will explore characteristics of various regenerative cultures\, as well as critiques of our dominant Western culture. We will consider how these may inform the transformations necessary within our society to live more harmoniously within our environment. The second part will have a practical focus. We will be experimenting with food-growing methods which regenerate the soil microbiological ecosystems as well as broader landscape ecosystems. \nThe study group will be collaborative and self-directed\, meeting once a month (first Sunday of the month) to explore a particular ‘regenerative’ topic. Our inquiry will be led by the participants themselves who are invited to suggest readings\, videos\, podcasts or other media. An aspirational list of topics for Part One\, not necessarily in the following order\, include: \n• Getting started – world views\n• Regenerative cultures\n• Economy\n• Local futures\n• Simplicity\n• Relating to the natural world\n• The metacrisis\n• Natural farming \nThe duration of each session will be between two and three hours and will include a shared lunch or afternoon tea. \nNew participants are welcome. \nWhere: Canberra City Farm in the LESS\nWhen: 2 pm\, 5 October.\nCost: Free \nFor Further Information: email info@ccfarm.org.au

SUMMARY:TALK - Biological Botanical Growing
DESCRIPTION:Biological Botanical Growing\n\nPresented by Bronwyn Holm\nBronwyn Holm will share a different approach to growing healthier\, more resilient gardens—one that doesn’t rely on synthetic fertilizers or endless inputs. \nBronwyn\, the founder of Earthfood—a biological growing revolution that brings living microbes back into the soil to restore fertility naturally — will talk about nature’s original blueprint for soil health. Most gardeners don’t realise that plants can actually feed themselves—if we stop killing off the very microbes that do the work! \nBronwyn’s talk will reveal: \n\nHow to unlock soil’s natural ability to regenerate itself\nWhy over-fertilizing creates lazy\, dependent plants (and what to do instead)\nThe secret to growing nutrient-rich food effortlessly—with less watering\, less work\, and fewer problems\n\nBronwyn’s talk wll leave gardeners and food growers with real\, practical tools they can start using immediately. \nWhen: 10:30am – 11:30 am \nWhere: Canberra City Farm \nCost: Free \nRegister: events.humanitix.com/biological-botanical-growing-presented-by-bronwyn-holm

SUMMARY:MONTHLY MINGLE - November
DESCRIPTION:This month’s guest speaker is Robbie Speldewinde\, Operations Manager of St John’s Care in Reid. For many years the Farm has been donating fresh produce to their emergency relief program and this year we received a beautiful note of thanks: \n‘The fresh produce we receive goes straight into the hands of people accessing our service each day.  Many of the individuals and families we support are experiencing significant financial hardship\, and sadly\, fresh fruit and vegetables are often the first things they forgo. Thanks to Canberra City Farm\, we’re able to offer our clients healthy\, nutritious food—something that not only nourishes their bodies\, but also restores a sense of dignity during a tough time. Clients frequently comment on how incredibly fresh the produce is—often fresher than what they can afford at the supermarket. As demand for our service grows and the cost of fresh food continues to rise\, the support from Canberra City Farm has become more vital than ever.’ \n  \nCome and meet Robbie in person and find out more about how the Farm is making a difference. \nThe idea of the Monthly Mingle is to regenerate ourselves: great food\, good ideas\, and farm friends\, old and new. Once a month and weather permitting\, we fire up the pizza oven\, listen to an inspirational speaker from our great regional talent pool\, and the conversation grows organically. Mingles are a great way to visit the Farm\, meet the community and learn from each other. \nWe provide pizza bases\, sauce\, and cheese. Please BYO pizza toppings to share. \nLunch: 12.30 to 1:30 pm \nTalk: 1:30 to 3:00 pm \nWho: All welcome!\nCost: FREE. The farm always welcomes your membership (join here). \nRegister here for pizzas by Friday 13 November if you can (not essential).

SUMMARY:MEET UP - Regenerative Study Group
DESCRIPTION:Now in its second year\, this group meets on the first Sunday of the month to explore the nature of regenerative cultures and their relationship to regenerative agriculture. We will share all things regenerative\, from big ideas to voices of hope to plates of food and personal friendships. Strap yourselves in for a collaborative and group-directed journey into the metacrisis\, a change of paradigms\, a decolonisation of the mind and how to create the conditions for life to thrive. Our inquiries go wherever our participants take us as we explore the ideas and practices of regenerative agriculture. A bit like a book group\, but videos\, podcasts and other media also included. A wonderful forum for those who like to explore the big questions\, regenerate their own thinking and listen to and learn from each other and the planet. \nThe duration of each session will be between two and three hours and will include a shared lunch or afternoon tea. New participants are welcome.

SUMMARY:Microforest Planting Day and April Monthly Mingle
DESCRIPTION:Join us at our autumn planting day and help extend our new microforest at the Canberra City Farm. Last spring we planted 480 native plants\, now established and putting on a burst of growth after the recent rain. The work continues with more planting and the sowing of thousands of seeds for a wildflower meadow. You will be rewarded with convivial conversation\, fun outdoor activity and a home-made wood-fired pizza afterwards. \nLooking at the big picture\, you’ll be taking local positive action to address climate challenges. The microforest project demonstrates climate resilient landscaping with berms\, mounds\, swales\, a pond\, and a rainwater tank and will improve biodiversity and provide shade and habitat for the lovely critters who hang out at the Farm. Thanks to funding by a Nature in the City: Cooling Your Suburb\, ACT Government Grant. \nSunday April 19 2026 \n9.30 am to 12.30 pm (planting)\n12.30—1.30 pm pizzas and April Monthly Mingle. \nThe Monthly Mingle is a social gathering at the Farm where we aim to regenerate ourselves with great food\, good ideas\, and Farm friends\, old and new. We like to fire up the pizza oven and relax in the shade of the mulberry tree. Mingles are a great way to visit the Farm\, meet the community and learn from each other. \nCome for both or come for either. All welcome! \nBring (for planting) a trowel and gloves if you have them\, and please wear long pants and closed shoes (not thongs or sandals). \n(for pizzas) your own pizza toppings. We provide bases\, passata and cheese and a wood-fired oven with volunteer chefs. \nRegistration: via Humanitix\, requested but not essential; for catering purposes\, please register before Friday 17 April if you can. \n
