SUMMARY:Microforest Planting Day and April Monthly Mingle
DESCRIPTION:Join us at our autumn planting day and help extend our new microforest at the Canberra City Farm. Last spring we planted 480 native plants\, now established and putting on a burst of growth after the recent rain. The work continues with more planting and the sowing of thousands of seeds for a wildflower meadow. You will be rewarded with convivial conversation\, fun outdoor activity and a home-made wood-fired pizza afterwards. \nLooking at the big picture\, you’ll be taking local positive action to address climate challenges. The microforest project demonstrates climate resilient landscaping with berms\, mounds\, swales\, a pond\, and a rainwater tank and will improve biodiversity and provide shade and habitat for the lovely critters who hang out at the Farm. Thanks to funding by a Nature in the City: Cooling Your Suburb\, ACT Government Grant. \nSunday April 19 2026 \n9.30 am to 12.30 pm (planting)\n12.30—1.30 pm pizzas and April Monthly Mingle. \nThe Monthly Mingle is a social gathering at the Farm where we aim to regenerate ourselves with great food\, good ideas\, and Farm friends\, old and new. We like to fire up the pizza oven and relax in the shade of the mulberry tree. Mingles are a great way to visit the Farm\, meet the community and learn from each other. \nCome for both or come for either. All welcome! \nBring (for planting) a trowel and gloves if you have them\, and please wear long pants and closed shoes (not thongs or sandals). \n(for pizzas) your own pizza toppings. We provide bases\, passata and cheese and a wood-fired oven with volunteer chefs. \nRegistration: via Humanitix\, requested but not essential; for catering purposes\, please register before Friday 17 April if you can. \n
