SUMMARY:Little Green Thumbs—eat\, play\, learn and grow!
DESCRIPTION:A garden-based food education program for lower primary aged children and their families \nStarting Tuesday 3 February 2026\, 4.15 pm —5.45 pm\, then weekly for Term 1\, (total 9 weeks)\nAlthough this program has already started\, new participants are most welcome.  Ticket prices have been adjusted to reflect the number of weeks left in Term 1.\n \nA typical program \n\nPlay! we will usually start with a few active games. This helps us relax\, get to know each other\, and enjoy being outdoors.\nEat! after a big day at school and some active play we will all be hungry! Our afternoon tea will be themed to suit the season in the market and at the garden\, focussing on fruits\, vegetables and healthy treats to match our weekly theme.\nLearn! each week will zoom in on a key plant feature or an element of the growing environment. Last spring we began with seeds and shoots\, and worked through to summer flowers\, stopping along the way to talk dirt\, wiggly worms and buzzy bees\, clean air and sunshine\, and water and wetlands. We harvested carrots\, beetroot\, rainbow chard\, snowpeas and more.\nGrow! through this term we will be building a productive patch of real vegetables and herbs. We will sow seed and seedlings\, water\, weed\, watch\, and when the time comes harvest the fruits of our labour. With luck and good conditions\, our planting plan will hopefully yield at least a vegetable garden harvest each week.\n\nOne of the many benefits of Farm membership is insurance. For this reason we have made Farm membership a requirement for the child. Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult who is also a member of the Farm\, join here. Adult participation in afternoon tea by donation. Adults are also encouraged to participate in the program. \nWhen: Tuesdays 4.15 pm —5.45 pm. From Tuesday 3 February – 31 March 2026 (9 weeks = Term 1) \nWhere: Canberra City Farm\, 2 Dairy Road\, Fyshwick \nCost: Now $62.00 per child* (i.e. $6.50 per week + $10 membership) and $52.00 if child is already a member. 1 ticket per child. Inclusive of afternoon tea\, lessons and materials. \n* Must be accompanied by an adult who is a member of CCF. Adult participation in afternoon tea by donation. Adults are encouraged to participate. \nRegister: Here \n

SUMMARY:Managing Pests and Diseases in your Allotment
DESCRIPTION:Workshop description\nThis workshop is a component of the Allotment Education Program. Various methods of protecting your plants from pests and disease will be described. It is suitable for beginner gardeners. \nWhen\nThis is a single workshop consisting of two sessions of 2 hours each. The workshop fee covers both sessions. The first session will be on Saturday 28 February from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The second session will be on Saturday 7 March from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
