Managing Pests and Diseases in your Allotment

Saturday, 28 February @ 2:30 pm - Saturday, 7 March @ 4:30 pm
$80.00

Workshop description

This workshop is a component of the Allotment Education Program. Various methods of protecting your plants from pests and disease will be described. We will be using an integrated pest management approach to apply these techniques in a systematic, integrated manner while protecting the ecology of our gardens and the surrounding environment. This workshop is focussed mainly on food plants but the techniques used are applicable to all plants. We will only deal with organic methods of pest and disease control.

Target audience

This is part of our Allotment Education Program but anyone interested in gardening is most welcome to attend. It is suitable for beginner gardeners.

When

This is a single workshop consisting of two sessions of 2 hours each. The workshop fee covers both sessions. The first session will be on Saturday 28 February from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The second session will be on Saturday 7 March from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. If you are a member of the Canberra City Farm please use your discount code.

Workshop requirements

As this is an outdoor practical workshop, participants should bring gardening gloves and wear sturdy, closed shoes and appropriate gardening clothes for the weather conditions. It would be helpful if you have a magnifying lense to look at insects, but not essential. A phone with a camera would also be equally useful.
