March Monthly Mingle

March 17 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Join us for our March Monthly Mingle, our informal get-together that aims to bring people closer to their local food system and community.  Monthly Mingles are an opportunity to share food, stories, and views on sustainability and our food system.  The Monthly Mingle will be on Sunday 17 March.

We are very excited to have the Canberra Seed Savers Cooperative run an introductory workshop to basic herb and veggie seed saving. There are many benefits to saving seeds; seed saving protects our heritage of abundant, open-pollinated food seeds from biodiversity loss; allows Canberra growers to make the most out of varieties that grow well in local conditions; is a fun way to learn more about and connect with nature; and is an economical way to grow your own food.

Learn about how seeds grow and simple seed saving techniques through practical exercises in this hands-on workshop. You will also get tips for growing the best plants from seed for this season in the Canberra region and we’ll explain how to be part of the Canberra Seed Savers Network. There will be plenty of opportunities for questions and chats too.

In this session, we’ll focus on spring and summer seeds including tomatoes.

Please bring a hat, water bottle and sturdy shoes.
