Introduction to Seed Saving

September 4, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Seed saving is for everyone – it’s easy, economical and empowering! Learn how to save seeds from your herb and veggie garden.  Saving seeds allows more diverse, interesting and resilient varieties of food to be grown. It means growing varieties that are adapted to Canberra, and it means saving time and resources when you don’t have to buy seeds or seedlings every year. Seedsaving is easy, interesting and fun!  In this hands on workshop Arian from Canberra Seed Savers will explain how Seed saving works, how you can get started straight away with no technical knowledge or special equipment. You’ll learn how to save and store seed from vegetables, fruit and herbs so you have a wide and resilient seed collection for years to come. And you’ll get to give it a go!  You will also learn about how seeds grow and reproduce and how to start your spring garden with the right conditions and plants for seedsaving. There will be plenty of opportunities for questions too and at participants go home with a couple of packets of seed and a handout guide to seed saving.
Cost: Free for members of Canberra City Farm and Canberra Seed Savers.  Non-members $20.00 ($15 concessions).
Tickets for this event can be booked through Humanitix here.
